THE ASSEMBLY

|The Assembly draws the curtain on the year by illuminating fresh and innovative perspectives, uniting 16 emerging and early-career artists in a vibrant celebration of creativity. This exhibition creates an inviting space for exploration, encouraging the public to engage with artists whose work may be unfamiliar to them.

Curated by Charlie Cauchi, The Assembly showcases an eclectic mix of Maltese and international talent, all carefully chosen through a competitive open submission process.

The term “assembly” is intentionally provocative: it is a spark to curate new and improbable connections and initiates a situation designed to bring together artists who may not necessarily gather. Each artist infuses their own unique vision into the collection, resulting in a richly textured tapestry of artworks that grapple with a range of profound themes, such as the intricacies of human connection and the pangs of alienation, the cycles of birth and grief, and the complexities of identity and cultural narratives.

This multi-artist exhibition does more than display individual pieces; it fosters a dynamic dialogue among the artworks, inviting audiences to contemplate and connect with the diverse expressions of current artistic practices and the pressing preoccupations of our time.

Through The Assembly, R Gallery demonstrates its dedication to offering visibility and recognition to a remarkable array of voices, ensuring that the experience is both enriching and thought-provoking.
